This is the fifth sermon in my 2020 August sermon series, "Back to Basics, Being the Church". This series was not created because I somehow think my congregations do not know how to be the church or have forgotten or anything like that. Rather, I wanted us to look at the basics of our faith and our beliefs, and how they help shape who and what we are as the church, specifically in this time of a global pandemic. This series does not use the Revised Common Lectionary selections for any specific week or year. The Scripture choices for this message are: Deuteronomy 6:1-7; 2 Timothy 3:10-17; Psalm 78:1-4.
