 Confidence In God's Presence            1 John 3:18-24

 

        Three Keys to Confidence:

 

I.            Actively Love Other Believers

·        Love involves action not just words: 1 John 3:16-17

 

 

 

II.     Trust God and His Truth over Our Emotions

 

·        We struggle with our sin nature: 1 John 1:8-9

·        The work of Christ is enough: Rom 5:8

·        Our faith is a free gift: Eph. 2:8-9

 

·        We need God’s Word:  2 Tim 3:16-17

·        The curtain was torn: Mt. 27:50-53

·        We have complete access to God: Heb 4:16

 

III.       Keep His Commands

 

·        John qualifies this statement in 5:14,15

 

         He defines the Commands:

 

         1)  Believe in the Name

·        Jesus is the Word: John 1:1

·        Our Help comes: Psalm 124:8 

 

         2)   Love that Acts: 1 John 3:18

·        We become a destination: John 14:23

·        The spirit is an inner witness to our new birth: Rom. 8:16
