Today is the first episode of our new series on the Gospel , "Back to Basics." Featuring Lindsey Peacock and Pastor Don, this series takes a different approach to the Gospel message, working line-by-line through the text and discussing just what exactly is going on with this sometimes confusing, often-misinterpreted story.

First, we're tackling Mark 1, verses 1-13, and in part 1 we focus more on understanding the text in context, discussing what we can understand from how Mark presents the story, and what these events would mean in the context of 1st century BCE Israel. Next week, in part 2, we'll tackle the Ancient Greek text itself, and look at how things have been translated, and explore some of the surprising twists that have happened in the text's journey to modern English.
