                                                      John 1:1-4

              Context: 40 yrs before Paul warned this Church: Acts 20:28-31

Five Facts about the Word of Life: (this) End of verse 1

1.         The Word is God

 

          Beginning? Look at the gospel of John 1:1-2

·        Jesus was not the creature but the Creator: John 1:3

·        Creation confirmed by Paul: Col. 1:15-17

 

 

 

2.         The Word became Flesh (The Incarnation)

 

·        It is about we not me! Witnesses: Dt 17:6

·        Paul appeals to 500 + witnesses: 1 Cor. 15:5-8

 

 

 

 

3.         The Word Provides Life

 

·        He repeats “Life” three times (word of life v.1)

·        Jesus is life: Jn. 14:6

·        We can have certainty: 1 John 5:13

 

 

 

4.        The Word is Relational

 

·        The gospel is all about relationship: John 17:20-23

 

 

 

 

 

5.         The Word Completes Our Joy

 

·        It brings them Joy to see people saved: 3Jn. 1:4

·        For us joy is both present & future:

·        Present in a restored relationship: Acts 8:36-39

·        Future because it is eternal: Psalm 16:11

·        Joy gives us rest: Mt. 11:29
