Welcome back to our Mind Expanders series where we talk about albums that opened our minds to new music. Alex talks about one of his favorite albums of all time, the first ever no-skips/perfect album that he's discussed on the show: Youth Lagoon's debut album: The Year of Hibernation. Alex dives into each track and does his best to illustrate why he loves it so much.

In the 3rd installment of his Icons series, Alex takes a look at and listens to The Beatles' 3rd studio album: A Hard Day's Night, as well as the accompanying feature length movie of the same title. In this episode, Alex launches yet another series. We're calling this one Mind Expanders because we'll be covering all of the artists, albums, songs, genres, etc that expanded our tastes and allowed us to enjoy music of all shapes and sizes. Some albums lie far on the outskirts of punk rock, others are in a completely different universe, but they're all great, and we want to share them with you. The first one Alex is covering is the tribute-to-a-state-album, Illinois, by Sufjan Stevens. Sufjan is an accomplished singer/songwriter, and his compositions are unlike most things that Alex enjoys, and they really opened his musical heart as a young man.
