Bad Apple!! ...on a Macintosh SE!!

Listen Later

More like GOOD Apple, amirite?

"Bad Apple!!" is a song from the series Touhou Project. This shadow-art animation was created in 2009, and is often used as a graphical and audio test for machines that are believed to be incapable of full-motion video.

I'm playing this video back on a Macintosh SE, running on a Motorola 68000 CPU running at 7.8 Mhz. The Mac has 4 MB of RAM, and the internal HD has been replaced with a BlueSCSI, allowing for very fast seek times despite the slow performance of the rest of the system.

The software I am using to play back the video is MacFlim 2 (yes, that's spelled f-l-i-m), which allows for fast video playback on early compact Macs. My SE is running system 6.0.7.

It runs pretty decently on the Mac SE! The flim is actually encoded for an SE/30, so it does stutter in a few places - but attempting to encode it directly for the SE resulted in some graphical artifacts that I'm not happy with.
