Publisher's Summary:
Detective Paul Hjelm and his team receive an urgent call from the FBI. A murderer whose methods bear a frightening resemblance to a serial killer they believed long dead is on his way to Sweden. For years the FBI hunted the so-called Kentucky Killer, their agents haunted by the terrible injuries he inflicted on his victims through his signature device: a weapon that squeezed the vocal cords shut.
Has he somehow returned from beyond the grave to torture a new generation, or do they have a copy-cat on their hands? And what do they want in Sweden? If they are to capture the killer, the team must collaborate with their colleagues in the FBI on a desperate hunt that will take them from rainswept city streets to deserted Kentucky farmhouses, and will push them to the limits of their endurance.

Great story
Great book. I really liked looking at "american" from an outside perspective.... and since I live in the Louisville Kentucky area - that made the book even better. Why? you might ask... because the serial killer is called the Kentucky killer and hi first murder was in the Louisville area :)
Anyway, the Kentucky Killer is a serial murderer who tortures people and kills them - in the same way as a group of Vietnam torture unit did ... but the the killings stop and the suspected murderer dies in a car crash.
Then 15 years later the murders start again, and this time he goes to Sweden
The Swedish police are trying to catch him before he begins his horrendous killing in Sweden. The police are well [portrayed - both as policemen and in the personal lives. There is humor as well. Great story!
I want more Dahl's translations!
I enjoyed reading Dahl's work a lot
Mixes politics, character development, Geography, Sociology. I have learned a lot about the Scandinavian Countries and their issues. If Wallander was ( just passed) a great critic of his society, Dahl, makes it interesting, fun, sad and makes the reader want to learn more about the issues depicted in each of his books
Finished the ones translated; Misterioso, Bad Blood and Europa Blues.
I hope we will have notice of new releases in English.
When you think you read all thrillers
Reads like a speed train
Inventive, Turning and twisting and never boring. No spoilers but you even a why at the end... Suberbly written. Up to the next one.
very good read with interesting twists
Starts off a bit slow but it actually then surprises you and you have to finish the book and there are several surprises!
Ready for the next one
Intriguing story....captivating characters. As enjoyable as the first one, enjoyed following the lives of the detectives.
Hope there is another one soon
