Then he perceived an Old Woman

그녀는 항상 머리를 끄덕였습니다

with a head which nodded all the time,

그녀는 그에게로 다가갔고

who came toward him,

하지만 그녀는 마녀였습니다.

but she was a Witch.

친절한 부인, 그는 그녀에게 말했습니다.

“Good woman,” said he to her,

당신은 나에게 이 숲을 통하는 길을 보여줄 수 없을까요?

“can you not show me the way through the forest?”

오 물론 나의 왕이시어

“Oh, yes, Lord King,”

그녀가 대답하길

she answered,

명백히 해드릴 수 있지요. 하지만 한가지 조건이 있는데요.

“that I certainly can, but on one condition,

만약 당신이 이를 지키지 않으면

and if you do not fulfill that,

당신은 절대 이 숲을 빠져나갈 수 없을 것이며

you will never get out of the forest,

또한 굶어죽고 말것입니다.

and will die of hunger in it.”

어떤 종류의 조건이죠? 왕이 물었습니다.

“What kind of a condition is it?” asked the King.
