Taiwanese baker Wu Pao-chun has been in the spotlight recently after making a controversial statement. Last week, Wu posted a statement on his official website, calling himself a “baker who was born in Taiwan, China.”  Wu said he is “very proud of being Chinese” and that the “two sides across the Taiwan Strait are one family.”

Wu recently opened a bakery in Shanghai but he has faced opposition from Chinese web users who accuse him of supporting Taiwan independence.
