Probably one the hardest things to maintain in our lives is BALANCE.

There is always something or someone tipping the scales to throw us off balance.

This is partly because we fail to set boundaries for ourselves and for others.

We often become ‘REACTIVE’ rather than ‘PROACTIVE’.

Reactive is when we Respond to a situation. Something happens and we respond it.

Proactive however, is when we Control the situation by Causing something to happen. In essence we make something happen.

An example:

We are reactive when we stop our own plans to assist others with theirs.

Another is when we are doing one thing and notice something else, and begin working on that instead.

However, if we take the proactive approach, we can tell others, “I’ll get back with you on that later, I'm busy at the moment.” Or in the case of noticing something else needing to be done, simply jot it done and schedule it for another day.

By maintaining balance our lives, we put ourselves in control. We decide what our priorities are instead of other things or other people. Balance includes every aspect of life, from our minds and emotions, to our health, our jobs, to where and when we are going to relax or go on vacation.

So ACT, don’t just React!
