For over 3 decades both Cuba and Poland belonged to the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance, commonly known as the Comecon, headed by the USSR. This country was among its founding states, Cuba joined in 1972. These days, however, they seem to be at the opposite ends economically. Poland has been invited to participate in this year's G20 summit in Miami, while the island is in dire economic situation.
