The Lord clarifies that He brought the Children of Israel out of the land of Egypt and thus He owns them. They are set apart and NOT to touch the unclean thing. They are not to engage in Egypt’s (or any foreign land) culture or idols! They are to separate themselves for they are the chosen people. In other words, God has high standards for them. He also let us know AGAIN that the land is held accountable to Him as well.
