It's been a while since we released a podcast episode, actually this is the first episode of WM40A this month! Because we've been away so long, we decided to do all the albums reviews. June 28th was a great day for new music this year. After 4 years we finally got a new The Black Keys albums with "Let's Rock". And while the album wasn't anything experimental or groundbreaking, it's a great summer album and it's The Black Keys. Who's going to not like a new Black Keys album?

Breathtakingly new on the scene with a Soul Rock sound that could easily have sounded like cover band music but instead sounds fresh, and refined, Black Pumas released their self-titled debut album. If you were looking for the perfect album to cop on vinyl and play for you friends to blow their minds this is that album. Producer Adrian Quesada, also a Grammy Award winning guitarist, and Eric Burton , a 27 year singer and writer, met in Austin and formed the band. Since then, they've been touring festivals making waves and leaving their mark on the music industry. This is the band you need to go seen when they're in your town.

And of course, we wouldn't be the WM40A Podcast if we didn't discuss Freddie Gibbs and Madlib's sophomore follow-up to their critically acclaimed Pinata, Bandana. Everything we needed to say about this album is in the show. And since that wasn't the only rap album released in the last couple of weeks, we talked about those too.
