Bank Shift Nurses Can Get Mortgages: Here's How!

Listen Later

As a nurse, you might have heard that it's difficult to get a mortgage using bank shifts due to the temporary nature of the contract. However, this is not entirely true. If you work on the bank, you can use your income to get a mortgage, and you'll be treated similarly to other contractors. It's essential to show that your income has been sustainable over a certain period of time and is likely to continue.

Lenders will look at your budget planner, and it's crucial to understand your monthly budget as a homeowner. Look at what you're spending your money on each month and what your income is consistently coming into your account. If you consistently earn more than what you're spending, it's a good sign for many lenders that a mortgage is affordable.

To assess your income, lenders will look at your track record development, and some may want to see up to 12 months of consistent income from bank shifts to use towards the mortgage. They may ask for pay slips or P60s to show your consistent monthly or weekly income.

Different lenders have different criteria when it comes to supporting bank nurses looking for a mortgage. A mortgage broker can help find the right lender for you and help you gather the necessary documents, such as paper or online pay slips and bank statements, to prove that money is getting paid to your account.

Once you have all the documents, you can apply formally for a mortgage. If you work with a mortgage broker who understands bank shifts, you're likely to get your mortgage approved. Remember that bank overtime income can also be used to support your mortgage application.
