A bit over a decade ago, my mobile phone rang. It was an unknown number, but I answered anyway.
“G’day Rob” said an unknown voice, “My name is Brad Dorahy… I just wanted to reach out and say hi and to see if there might be ways in which we can collaborate”.
I was floored, because it was the last thing I was expecting from the guy who had just become my company’s leading competitor!
But over the years, I’ve come to understand that this is classic Brad Dorahy: a straight-shooting good guy who’s passionate about learning abroad and keen to do what’s right for students and universities alike.
In this episode, Brad talks about how he got into learning abroad and we talk a little about the value of learning abroad programs for institutions and individuals.
What we DON’T talk much about is how, when Covid hit, I turned left and he turned right: my wife and I chose to close down our learning abroad business, AIM Overseas, but Brad chose to fight through. Interestingly, we both ended up winning… but that’s another story that hopefully we’ll have a chance to tell in the years ahead.
But for now there’s more than enough to get things started in this episode… so without further ado, I hope you enjoy this adventure-oriented episode with Brad Dorahy.
