Recent research suggests that having children does not actually make people happier. So why do we keep reproducing!? Obviously there is a biological drive for the continuation of the species, but is there something more? The Christian contention is that the reason is this: children's lives fundamentally matter. Indeed each one of us, every single human life, has infinite lasting significance. The problem is, as we grow up, because of things we've done and things done to us, all of us can have trouble experiencing that sense of significance and the wholeness we're made for. We need something bigger and more powerful than ourselves to reconstitute it. Jesus declared that he has come to bring life and life to its fullness to all people. Christianity is, at its heart, a relationship with Jesus. It is the life orientated around him - the only one powerful enough to fully resurrect us into who we were created to be. Why? Because he loves us too much to see us live only a half of a life.
