Barbara Dreaver insists she was following the rules when she was detained by authorities in Nauru.
The 1News Pacific Correspondent was detained after she interviewed a refugee while she was in the country to cover the Pacific Islands Forum.
She was questioned for several hours and has had her official accreditation revoked.
She told Mike Hosking she was interviewing the refugee in a public place, something officials told her she was welcome to do.
"They said look, you can interview the refugees as long as you don't interview them in a camp or anything in private. "
Dreaver was also banned from Fiji for eight years after a story she covered about poverty in a village aired in 2008.
Nauru is home to an Australian detention centre with more than nine hundred refugees and asylum seekers.
