A Cook Government campaign is encouraging Western Australians to use their gas barbecues safely this long weekend and beyond to avoid the risk of serious injury from incorrect cylinder connections. In the past three years, the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (Building and Energy Division) has investigated 27 incidents involving gas barbecues including seven where people suffered burns. Some were caused by incorrect connections including the use of an adaptor that is now prohibited
