A podcast by Women on Stage, recorded live with Moran Weber and Vicki Kalmanovich, an Engineering Manager and a renowned podcaster.
[SPOILER ALERT] In this episode, we discussed “the backstage'' aspects of the new Barbie movie. We talked about why this movie is so important to Feminism, its take on impostor syndrome, and why intelligent and brilliant women just don’t think they’re enough, as we constantly witness as part of our work at Women on Stage (or like Ken is saying: “I am Kenough!”).
We reflected back on our own childhood memories and asserted how this movie brilliantly created the perfect commercial for Mattel by “rebranding” and admitting its old faults, and how other companies who wish to support diversity in the post #MeToo era can do the same. Lastly, we talked about how the movie could do better in the sense of male representation and wished it emphasized more on how the patriarchy can be harmful to men as well.
