Barbour on Death Row, Jackson Kills Again — and AG Steve Marshall Still Defends It

Listen Later

Christopher Barbour has spent 30 years on Alabama’s death row for a murder DNA proves he didn’t commit. The real killer, Jerry Tyrone Jackson, was free — and nine years later, he brutally stabbed a young mother, Monique Vaughn, 27 times while her baby slept in the next room.

This is the ripple effect of false confessions. When police coerce the wrong man, the real killer walks — and innocent lives are destroyed.

And now Alabama’s Attorney General, Steve Marshall — who is running for U.S. Senate — is still fighting to keep Barbour locked up. He claims the DNA evidence “doesn’t matter,” insisting a grieving single mother must have had consensual sex with Jackson before being raped and murdered by Barbour.

DNA doesn’t lie. But prosecutors do when protecting their convictions.
