In which a stout-hearted gentleman named Hugh finds himself enlisted in a fervent Protestant association, and, under the guidance of a garrulous companion, gains an insight into the clandestine arrangements and fiery zeal of those opposed to certain religious interests. Together they embark upon a nocturnal tour of Parliament’s vicinity, marking the gathering of like-minded souls, and conclude their evening with a loud, spirited toast and a dance at a remote tavern called The Boot.
