Back in early 2001 I did a show on Mansfield 103.2 called the Late Night Run. It was my first solo show on radio and it was a VT'd affair. Looking back I count myself very lucky that I was given a shot because I was rubbish. However, at the time I was working with a fella called Matt Genever who was in my opinion a comedy genius and we came up with a character who would appear on the show from time to time. His name was Barry Biggins, a security guard from Blidworth who worked in a place called the compound. We would record the calls and they would go out early in the morning most nights. Matt was one of the most creative people I have ever worked with and we both had a great laugh telling Barry's story. Sadly Matt died of a brain tumour a few years later and I've always wanted to dig out the audio and put it on here as a bit of a tribute to a funny and inventive man who is much missed. I can't believe that we got away with some of the things that went out. These are the only Barry calls that remain because my parents house was broken into and the blooming thieves they took a lot of my Barry mini discs but these will give you a flavour of the sorts of things we got up.
