This is your Wheat podcast.
Good morning, and welcome to Daily Wheat Price Tracker with Vanessa Clark.
Here is your wheat market update for today. Wheat prices are holding mixed across major cash markets, with hard red winter wheat in parts of Montana trading around five dollars and sixty-four cents to six dollars and thirty-one cents per bushel, while FOB Portland bids are showing about seven dollars and three cents to seven dollars and eighty cents depending on protein level. In Nebraska, Colorado, and Wyoming, hard red winter wheat is mostly in the range of about six dollars and fourteen cents to six dollars and seventy-three cents per bushel.
On the futures side, Chicago wheat closed at five dollars and ninety-six cents per bushel for the July contract in the latest USDA market report, while Kansas City wheat was at six dollars and thirty three point seventy five cents per bushel. That tells us the market is still watching weather, export demand, and planting expectations very closely.
For farmers and grain buyers, the practical takeaway today is simple: keep an eye on local basis, because cash bids can vary a lot from one region to another even when futures are moving less dramatically. If you are storing wheat, this is a good time to compare elevator bids, check protein premiums, and look at whether your quality specs could earn you a better return.
Weather and global demand will remain the big drivers this week, so if you are following the wheat price today, pay attention to export news and any new crop condition reports.
