The Basque Country is part of Spain which straddles the Bay of Biscay. Its well known for its artists, musicians and also models. However it is also very well known for another thing and that is Football Managers and Head Coaches.

In this video we cover off the roots of why and how Basque managers have been so successful, the philosophy from an early age, Athletic Bilbao and the part they have to play in developing Basque Players and Managers, The Basque Country National Team and the part that Mikel Etxarri has had to play in the development of coaches such as Mikel Arteta, Julen Lopetegui, Xabi Alonso, Unai Emery and our very own Andoni Iraola.

We look at the discipline, style and approach of Basque coaches which have made them so successful throughout the years and the next coaches on the radar who have done so well.
