27 September 2024 – YARMOUTH, MA – In a pilot project, 100,000 scallops are being released into Bass River, with hopes the babies will multiply into several million individuals per year in the future. Friends Of Bass River and the Town of Yarmouth say limited scalloping could return to this historically and culturally important estuary by next year - more than 50 years after the mollusks virtually disappeared.
