The worse thing you can do before any battle is to expose your weakness to the enemy.

Once you’ve done so, it will be exploited, and possibly used to defeat you.


This principle can be applied to the battles of life.

These battles will vary in size and intensity.

The enemies can be imaginary or real.

But gaining victory in them will bring great rewards.


Sometimes in life we can be our own worst enemy.

We allow our anxiety or our overactive imagination get the best of us.


I remember a time when I had a speaking engagement,

where I let the fear of public speaking overtake me.

Hours before it was time for me to speak, I was actually becoming ill.

By allowing my fears to be exposed, it was being used against me.


Then minutes before it was time to speak,

I began encouraging myself using positive words.

Then I took the focus off of myself and thought of my audience.

I thought of how my speech will impact and benefit them, and I 

was the only one who could deliver this message.


That was the “key” ...

put the focus on the task at hand!


After the speech, I was exhausted, but more importantly…

I went through with it and I won the battle.


This was a small victory, but it delivered a huge lesson in my life.
