Ras K’Dee opens the show with his piece Love Da Way, then talks with Garry

Nicholas about the Maori people and progress to affirm and strengthen
their culture, and about the exhibit “Toi Maori: The Eternal Thread,”
opening Thursday at Yerba Buena Gardens with the first event the sunrise
Waka canoe ceremony into the SF bay with the Maori artists and their
Queen. The Bay Area Indian Calendar lists all the events related to their
arrival. Ras also introduces us to Gabriel Duncan who is included in the
most recent issue of SNAG Magazine and who recites some of his poetry and
talks about the issues facing his tribe and native peoples.
