Matthew 17: 20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you!

Def: disinterested in walking intimately with him.

CONTRAST- The goal of life is to receive and obey each time he speaks to you. 

 

**So it was not that the disciples were 

not with Jesus, 

Listened to Jesus

Talked to Jesus

Or see his miracles

it was that they were not interested in walking intimately with him. 

 

 

2 thoughts about discipleship

  -  Its a mandate - a command - a necessity

Matt. 28:18-20

18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

 

 

All Authority - I am giving you an order as the one in charge of everything.

 

AND…

If you are a disciple you are making disciples, and if you are making disciples you are a disciple… what?

YOU MIGHT SAY TO ME “PASTOR THIS SAYS TO MAKE DISCIPLES, ITS NOT A COMMAND THAT I HAVE TO BE A DISCIPLE” - That might be the problem.

In that culture - to make disciples meant you were taking the command of being a disciple.
