BE CAREFUL ABOUT FOOD

*FORTY DAYS OF TEMPTATION II ( Be careful what you eat)*
Die Daily Footstool Devotional
Luke 4:1-2 NIV
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. *He ate nothing during those days*, and at the end of them he was hungry.
Jesus was led into the wilderness for forty days to be tempted by the devil. The first resolve we see He made was a resolution about food. The Bible immediately mentions that " He ate nothing during those days". Jesus didn't just just set out ambitiously to fast for fasting sake, or for the health benefits of fasting per se. Jesus, in order to gain power to resist the tempting power of the enemy, knew His first power point will have to be about his relationship with food. Jesus made his intentions very clear about what to do with food in His days of temptation. Why? Because right from the get go, He did not want to repeat the mistake of Adam and Eve in their days of temptation. He was fully aware that a major punch could come through an altered relationship with food. And truly so! When satan came eventually to tempt him, food ( bread) didn't fail to feature ( Luke 4 : 3- 4).
Eating when you are not supposed to eat, and not eating when you are supposed to are all signs of a confused mind. A confused person can never win against the devil. Only people with a certain level of discipline can resist temptation. You must be disciplined when it comes to food. You must be able to decide, " I am not eating anything today", or " I am not eating sugar the whole of this month", or " I am going without food for the next forty days", and be able to stand by your decision no matter what.
It is the first and major thing you must master if you are going to have power with God. It is the first and major thing you must master if you are going to have dominion over the earth and over all the power of the enemy. Someone will say, " What has common food got to do with spiritual power, the devil, or with God? Don't forget it was the eating of food that first introduced sin into the world ( Gen 3: 1-7) and that the next thing God told the first people after giving the blessing of fruitfulness and multiplication was instructions about what to eat (Gen 1 : 28- 29). Your relationship with food has everything to do with whether you will gain power with God or not and whether you will have power over the enemy or not. Be careful what you eat. Pray about it and make disciplined decisions about what to eat and what not to and when to eat and when not to. Pray!
