Christ's letter to the church at Smyrna is an encouragement to persevere through the hardest of trials. No believer naturally wants to suffer trials. Christ reminds us - such difficulties are limited in duration and only allowed by Him. He has Divine purpose in them- we are not to fear, but faithful unto death.
