Be Perfect as Your Heavenly Father is Perfect . . . How Do We Do That?

In today’s Mass we have an opening prayer.

We turn to the Lord and ask for the Grace that through always contemplating heavenly things we might be pleasing to Him, in words and in deeds. Wow, that’s a prayer! As we enter the Lenten Season, hear why this is so important! Hear more within the Homily.

The Scripture places before us challenging words today. In the first reading (not included within this audio), we receive a commandment from the Lord, spoken through Moses. Be Holy, just as the Lord thy God is Holy! Many humans will say, Who Me? I am not Holy! Be Holy, just as the Lord thy God is Holy! Hear more within the Homily.

Be Perfect . . .

Those words in the beginning of the first reading are comparable to the commandment from the lips of Jesus at the end of the Gospel. Be Perfect, just as your Heavenly Father in Heaven is Perfect! Our natural reaction is to say, Lord, you are commanding far too much from me! Lord, who can do that? Lord, how is that even possible, and what is it in the first place?
