Today's society is littered with fake profiles, an obsession with vanity metrics like retweets and likes, and an overall mindset that moves us further away from being our true, authentic selves. When we go online, we are constantly fed stories of glitz, glamour, and grandeur that, when viewed through an unfiltered lens, foster inferiority and put our goals and aspirations seemingly out of reach.

The problem with most of what you see is that you're only getting the most current chapter of the story. All the sacrifice, all the time invested, all the failed attempts an individual experiences in reaching a state of success doesn't take center stage...when, in reality, it should. Because it's real. It's the real story that built that person.

In today's noisy, constantly-changing environment, standing out requires authenticity. It requires you sharing what makes you tick with the volume turned all the way up. It requires you...being real.

In this episode of Be Real, I am joined by my close friend Jay Jay for a candid discussion about the power of authenticity and what can be accomplished when you bring a sense of realness to the surface in your world. Jay Jay has found success in his life by implementing realistic, authentic approaches in both how he scales his operations AND how he treats his employees. By giving them freedom to flourish and set their own benchmarks, morale in Jay Jay's organization is at an all-time high and engagement is overflowing at every juncture.

We also get into authenticity when it comes to mental health, fitness, and your ability to build meaningful, worthwhile relationships. Without the proper attention to any of these key aspects, life simply isn't as valuable.

David Goggins talks about his shortcomings. He talks about how he needed to write page by page everything in his dive manual. He knew he wasn't the best student so he worked harder than others to figure it out.

Are you willing to work harder to figure it out? Or is the easy road the road you want? The one that everyone has taken. It is worn down and beat up. The flowers are all picked. The grass is gone because of all the footsteps. The question I ask myself is what am I giving up by taking the easy road?

There will be times when you choose the easy road and you need to recognize them and stop. 

Stop because what's easy today becomes hard tomorrow!

A  former US Navy SEAL with 26 years of service, William Branum is the founder of NW Recovery.  At an early age William knew he wanted to be part of a team that would push him beyond whatever limits he thought he had and still enjoy the outdoors and all it had to offer.  He charged forward and became an Eagle Scout and joined the Navy immediately after graduating High School. After graduating from SEAL Training (BUD/S Class 208) he was stationed in Virginia Beach, VA then San Diego, CA, and finally Oahu, HI where he served on multiple SEAL Teams, taught SEAL Sniper School, and deployed around the globe.

As with too many veterans, William suffered from numerous physical injuries and psychological symptoms that negatively impacted his well being and quality of life.  Migraines, severe anxiety, chronic pains, difficulty focusing, difficulty sleeping/falling asleep, and depression are some of the symptoms he would struggle with on a daily basis.  He tried many prescription medications to help and eventually started to “self medicate” with alcohol to help with pain and sleep issues.

During his last few years of military service William started hearing more about the promising benefits of cannabinoids like CBD.  Ultimately, he chose to wait until his retirement from the military before exploring this new world of plant based benefits to help aid in his physical and psychological recovery.  Determined to maintain his Top Secret Security clearance after the military, he sought THC free options of CBD.

Since his discovery of CBD, William has reduced anxiety, improved sleep, less joint pain and an overall improved quality of life.  Today William is focused on sharing the recovery benefits he has experienced through premium quality (THC Free) CBD in hopes that other Veterans and First Responders can also experience their own recovery.

Elisabeth is a badass! She found out decades ago that her subconscious mind needed to be reprogrammed by picking up a book in 1989. She didn't know that she was asleep and that she had a subconscious mind. She learned that if she changed her focus and chunked things down, she would be able to achieve more. The crazy thing....most people today 30 years later still don't know this.

She also discovered that at a young age that without money and financial literacy she would be a slave. As a child she was told "you'll never amount to anything and that you're not going to do good" And even though she was young and living a life that would be Instagram worthy and was a beautiful woman, she felt unworthy!

Matt Schneider an amazing business man, instructor of the project and an overall super bad ass human. He had an interesting childhood to say the least. He had a great mom, 4 siblings but she couldn't pick a man that was going to last. She is on her 9th divorce... Imagine the revolving door of men...

Imagine, having so many male figures in and out of your life. Boyfriends, father figures and how it shapes a young mans life. Due to this he has become super adaptable. He has become a man that is a wonderful father and husband. 

The past shapes your present. The present life that he has created is a life of stability for his family because it was lacking in his home. At the age of 11, as he was in school and friends started coming over, he finally realized that he wasn't living in a "normal" life.

His journey led him to be a protector and to the law enforcement world. The world of protecting was second nature because of how he was raised. He took on the head of the household at a young age because he had to. 

He is a man that is never a victim of the circumstances but a victor! He loves working with his son and spending time with him, to be the father. As a special ops officer, he learned how to navigate difficult situations. He learned that you never get all the information but you have to make quick decisions, which is similar to being an entrepreneur. 

His past experiences have led him to being an awesome developer of people. He loves working with his entrepreneurs because these people take action. 

He is a team player and seriously one of the greatest men I have met. During the project, he was one of the men that made me have faith in myself that there was a reason for this madness and the outcome was worth it. 

He is the guy who you see across a hotel lobby and just get good vibes in your body. He lifts people and doesn't break them to grow them. He is honest and raw and this interview....

Well it is just as raw and real as they come!

Some people talk and some people walk, Zavier Buzard is one of those people who walks the walk. He owns 11 doors at the age of twenty five. 

At 23, he wasn't even able to buy his girlfriend Christmas presents because they had all their money tied up in investments. Now that's a dude that's got his head on straight. He's always worked exceptionally hard, but he's also thought about his future life. 

Zavier is a graduate of the project Class 007, my class, which is exciting, and what he's learnt in his time on this earth is that you got to have a long game. You got to have the long plan. You got to have the idea of what's going to happen tomorrow because most people are short sighted. I was as well. 

And he has figured out at a young age that if you have the long game in hand, you're going to do really well in life. So not only does he have 11 doors, he also flips real estate. He's engaged to an amazing, awesome woman. He's leveled up in all aspects of his life. He's doing the seventy five hard challenge because, why not? And he's a guy that you can turn to when you're feeling up or when you're feeling down. 

Without further ado, let me bring my boy on Zavier.

Erin "The Fit Beard" Alejandrino is a man of wise words and deep thoughts. He has a unique way that he thinks that not only helps level you up, but makes you want to be a better human.

Vice President of True Lean Nutrition, cofounder of "The Modern Day Knight Project" and cohost of the  podcast "Meathead and the Monk."

In this episode Erin talks about how serving others not only helps them but it also helps the person that is doing the helping and that is OK! As Erin says, as we see others grow we grow. What a profound statement.

His foundation of his growth was martial arts and fitness. Men in his opinion need to have a foundation around fitness, whether its martial arts or lifting weights. Be willing to be a white belt. Be willing to learn from others and grow. without a physical practice though, our foundation as men is limited. 

We jumped around to how we cope with drugs, alcohol and sex. We talked about how abstaining from sex helps us create as men enormous amounts of creative energy and helps us push through.

I am so happy to have my brother on today. We met in 2019 when he got the pleasure of walking me out after quitting and ringing the bell for The Project. What he said, I can't remember but his heart was all in it. After 50 hours of pain and quitting, I didn't want a lecture of my arrogance, I wanted a friend, a brother, a compassionate few words and he delivered what I needed, because that is who this man is.

He is an entrepreneur. He is a father. A businessman, a coach to youth, a great husband (more on that) and a brother and friend to me. He wasn't always this way. He went through his periods of being self absorbed and arrogant. He was demanding and unconscious of his behaviors. He treated his wife in a way that wasn't in alignment to his character because that is what he knew. He was so focused on making his businesses work that he missed many of the other aspects of life.

As he was traveling and had his 2nd child, he realized he wanted to make a pivot in his life because things were no longer working and started his journey of inward work. He changed his relationships with his wife, his health, his businesses, his children and the most important with himself.

This episode crossed so many layers about human development, business development and family and personal development we could have spent a week discussing. So, get ready for a packed episode with my brother Jake Blanchard!

Zachary was like many young adults in life and going through the motions. He was always intelligent but his mindset wasn't quite there. Luckily, for him he was given a few ques in life that he never forgot. Those small lessons led him to a life of impact and helped him change his victim mindset.

He was blessed to have a lesson taught to him at a young age. He got in trouble for becoming an entrepreneur at school. Even though the school had to punish him for selling things on campus, his principal said don't forget the lessons you learned here. 

Later in life he would meet the person who gave him these wise words and even though he rejected her advances of getting him in to real estate, he finally one day had enough and told his wife he was quitting his job and going for it. He emptied his accounts and maxed his credit cards to pay for his real estate license and the rest is history.

When you burn the boats and go all in, you will either sink or swim, but you have no more choices. You have to put out and that he has done ever since. 

He owns multiple companies, is a family man, a mentor and a coach. He went from being unemployable to one super productive man. He's got a great mindset, a great microphone :) and is someone I am so pleased to bring to my stage and to you. So please get your pens and paper ready, because he drops the knowldege of how he went from unemployable to having multiple streams of income.
