This month’s guest is Russell Spurlin. Russell is a Senior at Clay Center Community High School. He is a member of Kansas Youth Connect and is also one of the KYC Ambassadors. He works with DCCCA staff and WSU staff to strategize and help plan the KYC3 conference.

This month’s prevention in media is “WandaVision”! WandaVision is a TV show on Disney+ and it is based on the Marvel Comics characters Scarlet Witch and Vision. It is a show that addresses some very real feelings and emotions in the behavioral health realm.

This month’s Coalition Spotlight is Shawnee County Substance Abuse Task Force.

The Mission: Shawnee County Substance Abuse Task Force is committed to making a reduction in substance use a priority throughout Shawnee County.

The Goals:

To educate the public about the incidence and impact of early substance use by youth.

To energize the public to address substance use within their families, schools and multiple sectors throughout the county.

To engage key leaders and policymakers about the impact of substance use on the health and well-being of the county related to the impact of substance use.
