Being still is a powerful move. When we are Still, Quiet, and Calm, we say to God, "We Trust You." We can be still because we know who's in charge and who's in control - God. In order to produce righteousness, we must be slow to speak and be quick to listen; we must be still. James is telling us what will produce the righteousness of God in us. God desires righteousness. That is simply listening to the Word of God or living based on what the Bible says.

Thus, our scripture says, "Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.” Evil is prevalent in the family, but not because it's prevalent. We must allow it to take us over and cause us to act out.

We must be clean and remain clean.

Get rid of the emotional garbage that we carry and even spiritual garbage; we need to get rid of the stuff that stinks in our lives. Instead, let's humble ourselves and be ready to do whatever God tells us to do from His Word, which is living righteously. Pride won't work, but humility invites God into our lives.

Family, Be still, clean up what's wrong, and allow God's righteousness to settle us. Be still today in His Word! That’s a power move; you do not need to react; just be still, quiet, calm, and trust God.
