I just recently heard someone say Leadership is overrated… in fact they said the world needs more followers. While I understand this point, I would fight over the opinion that everyone needs to be a leader. 

2 Samuel 11 famous story… David is supposed to be out in battle but instead stays home… goes out at night and from his deck sees a woman bathing…

And she’s wet, and soapy and curvy and voluptuous and drop dead beautiful… the sun is setting and the light from her lamp is glimmering off of her skin…

Garth - why so much detail. Well this is what satan does… right? he blinds our invisible and supernatural senses with the physical and tangible senses. 

So much to be said.

Bathsheba… knew what was going on

She did not put up a fight

She followed Davids lead

She set the bait…

But….

David acts impulsively…

nope it wasn’t that he sent for Bathsheba - it’s that he wasn’t where he was supposed to be. He was supposed to be out in battle leading his men. 

From that one decision… and what was that decision? 

Choosing not to lead…

His whole life and legacy take a dive.

He gets called on the carpet… by the prophet Nathan

And look you know people talk right?

David was from that point on known as 

“that guy”… or “that king”

Look they didn’t just talk about David messing up, they talked about how David got Bathsheba’s husband murdered… and he knocked her up and now how his family is falling apart.

From what? Not leading! 

Nathan tells David a story and says a rich guy who has everything has some guests stop by and instead of taking one of his own sheep and butchering it for the guests, he takes the one sheep the poor old guy down the block has… David is ticked…

5 David was furious. “As surely as the Lord lives,” he vowed, “any man who would do such a thing deserves to die! 6 He must repay four lambs to the poor man

Hey hold on… why do you think David is so mad…

Same reason you get mad at things… guilt.

We overcompensate for areas we are ourselves guilty… trying to prove our righteousness by our anger…
