Albert Einstein once said, "Darkness does not exist.  It is in reality the absence of light... darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."
A very interesting statement, especially in view of what Jesus once said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness..."
