This Sunday, Pastor Lizzy began teaching through the Beatitudes, starting with a look at what it means to be poor in spirit. In Matthew 5:3, Jesus says, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” To be poor in spirit means to be humble, recognize our need for God’s forgiveness, and be willing to walk in His will for us. And as we live a life of poverty in spirit, God will lift us up in His blessing of life with Him for eternity.
