Cook County Poet, Special Ed teacher, and Signed Artist Joel Q is our guest on this episode of Beats, Beds & Browns. Joel Q is a Chicago songwriter/recording artist known for his honesty and for the humility he brings to his music. Since 6 years old, Joel knew that he had a knack for writing when he began writing small poems after his 1st grade teacher introduced him to poetry which eventually transitioned into Rap when he was 8. Joel knew that even though he is surrounded by the harsh realities on Chicago’s South side, he understands the power in speaking life in which he applies in his music to change the minds of millions. Joel has gone on to create several projects, singles, and even co-signed by well known names from Sway of Sway In The Morning to Dreamville and most recently, Big Sean who has kept his eye on him since their encounter at Lollapalooza. Living by his motto ‘Never Stop Grinding’, Joel continues to push the envelope of creativity and art to be a light to his city and the world.
