The dreaded List...if you've been on a dating app you know the one I'm talking about. The one where he says he wants a girl who loves to wear dresses and have dinner on the table when he walks in the door, is fit and athletic and never smokes, drinks,curses or has any tattoos; the one where she says he MUST be over 6 feet tall, have a six pack (abs, not beer), no baby mama drama and will worship the ground his lady walks on... I know, right? None of these take into account WHO someone is on the inside. What kind of personality they have, their goals and dreams and if their weird matches your weird! Maybe the better list to make would be the one you make about yourself... the one with the things you bring to a relationship that make you a good catch for that perfect-for-you person? Or at least look at your list and see how many boxes you check off before you add The List to your dating profile!

Yep. Many of us have it, at least to some degree. But it's not something we talk about. It's not an acceptable topic of conversation in polite company. Maybe that needs to change? Maybe I want it to change, to bring the things no one talks about out into the mainstream collective conscious of the world. Today's episode is me doing exactly that... being open and honest and fully transparent about my Survivor Guilt. Hopefully, it will help you if you are dealing with it too.

Have you felt overwhelmed by a situation, an event, a task, or even a person in your life? Try taking a step back and looking at it, or then, from a different point of view... Four years ago I was in Europe. To be exact, I was in Rome, experiencing my husband's Bucket List trip to see all the wonders of that ancient city, the Vatican and the Pope. It was a difficult trip, but my sister and her family were with me, I had my husband's ashes to leave in special places along the journey... And I had FAITH that I was doing what I needed to do to help me to begin to heal my shattered heart. Along the journey through Rome, and the other cities I visited, I found things to be grateful and thankful for; the stranger on the plane who let me hold his arm when the flight got rough, the flight attendant who made sure I had wine or coffee at all times, the smiles of the locals who spoke almost no English, but gave me a hug when I broke into tears in the Orange Garden on Aventine Hill... Known as the most romantic place in Rome. Kindness, compassion and empathy from strangers did a lot to restore my sense of gratitude for all that the Universe has in store for me... Today I have a conversation with my dear friend, and fellow widowed folk, about Dating after Loss. Getting a man's perspective was enlightening, but it also pointed out that men & women are having similar experiences, desire the same things. It's been nearly 3 years since COVID came into the World...

And man! Has it over stayed it's unwelcome visit.

In this time Millions have been ill, Millions have died, and Millions have survived the initial infection, only to discover that COVID can leave behind it's insidious, and more devastating, relative called Long COVID.

I found something I wrote on 9/11/2022 ...

I have no memory of writing it.

I know it must have taken me hours to write.

I know I must have been in the depths of despair on that day, but nothing about that specific day stands out as a reason...

Because no reason is needed, other than, this is my life.

Day to day, sometimes hour to hour or minute to minute, I force myself to acknowledge/accept/adapt to my reality in that moment, to deal with and live in, the present.

Every day I try to stay in the present...

Depression is living in the past, anxiety is living in the future, peace is living in the present.

It may not be a peace that brings joy and contentment, but rather a peace that I am, that we are, doing the best we can in that time and place.

And understanding, accepting, that our best, no matter how meager it may seem, is always enough❤️
