Beaverton author announced as finalist for literary awards

In Rachel K. Jones’ fantasy/horror story “The Sound of Children Screaming,” a fourth-grade teacher and her students find themselves in a magical world during a school shooting. The story draws inspiration from real-life events. The Beaverton author’s short story is a finalist for several literary awards, including the Hugo, Nebula and Bram Stoker awards.
