In this episode, John addresses a recent Dear Abby column in which a grandmother writes in asking why today's mothers feel so much angst in the raising of children. John says the problem is due largely in part to what he calls postmodern psychological parenting and the pressure today's mothers feel to adhere to the destructive doctrine of the Good Mommy Club. Therefore, something her grandmother did with relatively little effort is stressful, anxiety-, self-doubt-, and guilt-ridden—in a word, exhausting.
