Becoming a Peacemaker: Doug Noll

Listen Later

Welcome to episode 33 of the podcast! Thanks for joining me for today’s conversation. How important is it to you to have peace in your life? How about this: What does it take to be a peacemaker? Certain famous people in history likely come to mind when you think about being a peacemaker, but what if I told you that you can be a peacemaker in your own life and relationships. I believe that we could all use a bit more peace in our relationships. Whether you are a spouse, parent, boss, employee, colleague, or neighbor, you can also be a peacemaker. Today’s guest, Doug Noll, is an award-winning lawyer, mediator, author, teacher, speaker, and trainer who has mediated thousands of conflicts. After serving as a civil trial lawyer for 22 years, Doug is passionate about understanding human conflict. His groundbreaking work in de-escalating anger in potentially violent confrontations has transformed lives everywhere, including in maximum-security prisons. Doug’s fourth book, De-Escalate, is now available in four languages. In our conversation Doug shares about his life experiences that lead him into mediation and ultimately what he refers to as peacemaking. We dive into the process of peacemaking as Doug lays out both the neuroscience and practice of de-escalation. So please join me in welcoming Doug to the Well Mind community in episode 33, Becoming a Peacemaker.
