KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • I believe my life is a continuous series of lessons and realisations as I go through it. I consider myself an everyday life philosopher because I do truly believe that everything that happens to you, if you add a little bit of introspection, is a vehicle for transformation.
  • Academic education is about facts and knowledge, when it comes to personal growth and transformation your knowledge doesn’t change anything. You can know all you like but unless you change the way you see and perceive the world, your framework, all your knowledge won’t change anything, it’s knowledge plus experience that gives you the transformation. This is why I think every single day of my life has potential for growth.
  • Being awesome is not just being awesome or loving yourself despite your flaws, I don’t even use the word awesome very much in the book. It’s about self-love and self-acceptance, but I venture to go deeper and to go beyond the idea that I’m flawed but I’m still good at encouraging people to see that it is exactly the things that they’re ashamed of or they shrink from that hold the most unique value for the world. It’s about finding strength in the things which you might think are your weaknesses.
  • The one “dragon” that a lot of us have is perfectionism. I think this is not usually the scary one though, people usually use it as a “show-off” flaw: What’s your biggest flaw? I’m such a perfectionist! It’s a challenge to live with perfectionism but it’s not the dragon that we’re ashamed of. The dragon we’re ashamed of are usually a little more personal and intimate and create slightly more intense emotions. As a woman, one of the dragons I’ve had a hard time taming was the desire to be attractive no matter what. In a professional setting women are expected to tone down that side of them, which is hard to come to terms with.

BEST MOMENTS
‘I hope my book is going to be an individual and personal journey for every single person who’s going to read it. A journey back to yourself is a very unique destination and I cannot know where it takes.’
‘Authenticity is binary, you’re either authentic or you’re not quite true to yourself. Honesty has degrees related to the rest of the world, but it’s binary with your relationship with yourself.’
‘Your relationship with the world is a reflection of your relationship with yourself. It’s easier to be more tolerant and patient with the world if you are tolerant and patient with yourself.’
‘People should stay true to themselves, what “staying outstanding” means to each and every person is up to each and every person to decide.’

ABOUT THE HOST
Gavin Scott is a born entrepreneur with a passion for start up and scale up. He has over 20 years real estate experience in investment and development.
Gavin says: Over the years I have discovered that mindset is everything. Now, that might sound obvious, but it is! You see the number of awoken minds are very few in reality. Whilst acknowledging mindset is key it is absolutely different from utilising, influencing, impacting and effecting great change, for yourself, your loved ones, friends, colleagues and the wider public.
Why?
Like most of us I have had many ups and downs. I want to share the lessons learnt and promote a better environment for all, internally and externally!
How?
Through sharing my own experiences and hosting some fabulous individuals including some big household names to discuss key topics around mindset and the success formulas I hope the listener will become inspired to create space for change for betterment in their lives. I aim to inspire change by encouragement, not by force. I intend to inspire by education, not by regulation.
