Will Goldsmith, the Head of Bedales, relishes the freedoms of being in the independent education sector - they are regulated and inspected but they have more latitude. 

He talks to Mike Waddington about how they have used these freedoms to change the assessment system and moved them to age 18, providing more teaching time.

There is a debate about independent education and he thinks that their work on the curriculum and assessment is innovative and better suited to the modern age.
