Have you ever been in a terrible mess, a terrible hole which you dug yourself into and thought you would tell on more lie, or conceal one more thing, or work just a little harder to get yourself out? If so you know it doesn't really work in the flesh and it certainly doesn't work in the spirit. When we focus on our flesh and worship ourselves we can eventually start living like we are our own god and that we can save ourselves.
