Beep! Pasokon Chat

This episode was recorded in girl code. Like monkey ball we're falling out this month, with Fallout (not boy): A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game. We put our power armour on and head into a brown/dark yellow wasteland filled with giant rats, terrifying clay faces and friendly fire. We talk about the 3 recent-ish Persona announcements and our readiness to be disappointed, we hate Teddie's new voice and we also hate the new James Pond/Manic Miner collections. We also chat conventions, I met Ashens and Ash Millman, they were nice.

Fallout discussion starts at 56:25.

Beep! Pasokon Chat is a monthly game club style podcast hosted by GeekintheShell (James) and DalaamClouds (Audrey). Brought together from across the ocean by a love of questionable retro games, each month we delve into a notable game or franchises for the first time like Dragon Quest, Fallout... Bubsy 3D (one day I'll convince Audrey to cover this). Despite that we probably spend more time talking about music or cultural differences.

Published the first Thursday of every month (subject to change, look we're busy alright).

It's the bestie, G-Man.... I guess Gordon Freeman and the most 2000's woman are here as well. We journey into the little known indie duology of Half Life, perhaps you've heard of it, a franchise we knew very little about. Once again we also discuss Mexican/US/European food, as well as big twists in Double Dragon, horror movie of the year Obsession and Handel Gothic. All this as well as coverage of the Square Enix concert tour, the UK Sci-Fi and Film museum, and Yeticon Ontario. Oh also albums added and taken away from the 1001 Albums to Listen to Before You Die list... we fit a lot in this episode huh?

Half Life discussion starts at 39:14. Our pre-podcasting discussion on music is at the end, from 1:41:13.

We join Ryunosuke Naruhodo on a perilous journey to one of the most terrifying places in the world... London. We cover the ups and downs of the first entry in The Great Ace Attorney / Dai Gyakuten Saiban series, a period set Ace Attorney duology. We also have a long conversation about Mixtape, somehow one of the highest profile 2026 releases, as well as covering the winners and our votes in the Backloggd 1998 game of the year polls. All this and I go off again on another hardware review, this time on virtual pets.

Ace Attorney discussion starts at 1:20:10. Our pre-podcasting discussion on music and food is at the end, from 2:29:48.

We chat re-released retro consoles as well as a mini console review that everyone was asking for (note: no one was asking for this but they should be). I also take some time to talk about the 1001 Games to Play Before You Die list. For our main segment join all time skeleton Manny Calavera as he crosses the land of the dead in this classic comedy point and click. You've got the power to be his friend.

Grim Fandango discussion starts at 28:56

Last time we talked about our gaming pasts but now we're talking about our gaming futures, with 2026 titles we're looking forward to releasing. We also move the podcast towards our true aim, talking about albums from the 1001 Albums to Listen to Before You Die list with our top 10's so far. For our main section we dig into classic Famicom/NES JRPG Dragon Quest IV and see how influential it's been on the genre. Torneko fans rise up. All this and the gaming event of the year, everyone's new favourite film, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie!

Dragon Quest IV discussion starts at 1:01:37

It's our first episode! Recorded in January 2026 we talk about our tragic gaming pasts, the consoles we grew up with and some favourite games before we move onto the main topic of this month: the RPGmaker claymation indie darling Hylics 2 (as well as the first Hylics game).

Hylics discussion starts at 00:58:40.
