Non-musical history for today: 1892 – The General Electric Company was formed. General Electric was formed through the merger of the Edison General Electric Company and the Thomson-Houston Electric Company, with the support of Drexel, Morgan & Co. GE was directly responsible for the formation of the Radio Corporation of America (RCA), and, through RCA, the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC). NBC had two versions, NBC Red (which we still know as NBC) and NBC Blue (which was succeeded by American Broadcasting Corporation, or ABC). Whilst the brand was known for quality, it seems to me that now, it’s just light bulbs and crappy home appliances. I mean, that’s what I think of. Not saying that’s it.
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for April 15.
