Non-musical history for today: 1881 – In Dodge City, Kansas, Bat Masterson fought his last gun battle. Bartholomew Masterson was actually born in Canada before moving as a teen to hunt the Great Plains along with his dad. He was a U.S. Army scout, lawman, professional gambler, and journalist known for his exploits in the late 19th and early 20th-century American Old West.
