Non-musical history for today: 1954 – United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower gave his “domino theory” speech during a news conference. A standard theory in the United States from the 1950s to the 1980s, especially in the context of the Cold War. It suggested that if one country in a region came under the influence of communism, then the surrounding countries would follow. Successive United States administrations used it during the Cold War to justify American intervention worldwide. But… we’ll just let Russia take over Ukraine, right?
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for April 7.
