Non-musical history for today: 1835 – P. T. Barnum began his career as a showman and circus entrepreneur by exhibiting Joice Heth, an octogenarian African slave whom he claimed was George Washington's nursemaid. Heth was supposed to pass for a 161-year-old woman. And, people fell for that. That doesn't surprise me, people fall for all kinds of crap these days, too.
Music history, album anniversaries, birthdays, and deaths for August 10.
Recorded in the Omniverus Podcast Studios at Liberty Plaza.
